Diablos drop trail. It’s a trail ride for vehicles easy l. There no steep drop offs, everything is manageable from jeeps to explorers.
★
4x4 and high clearance needed. Not too difficult but need to take your time on some obstacles.

Hike from S2 is decent along dusty dirt road to reach canyon and various slot canyons. A lot of off road vehicles to dodge. If had a higher clearance vehicle best to drive to canyon entrance and hike from there.

Easy drive in my 4Runner. Millions of years of geology around every corner.

Amazing breeze today. Definitely would want to do this early in the morning if it is summer time.

Such a good time to go out and enjoy the wildflowers, blooming cactus, and waterfalls. Easy hike full of great sights and the trail is well marked and in great condition.
Spoke to a ranger and she said it was one of the busiest days. Even with all the traffic I never felt crowded and even had stretches of isolated hiking. Definitely not a hike if you’re looking for complete solitude though.
If you’re in the SoCal desert this hike is a must-do.

Perfect weather. Gorgeous views. Did it downhill, a bit hard on the knees and feet. Next time uphill!

Just the right amount of beautiful canyons, rock formations, and climbing. Very narrow passages.

Great contrast to the lower desert floor hikes. The trail is easy to follow old two track with rolling hills but not very steep. The trail crosses an old burn area so the vegetation is pretty friendly. The trail from the main track fades out going to the top of the peak but the terrain is pretty easy to bushwhack. Register jar covered by an old tin can at the top.

Desert flowers blooming, great views and earth formation. Will be going back!

Difficult Jeep Badge of Honor trail. Don't go on it by yourself. Lots of fun if you have the correct vehicle and good spotters. Once you are past Heart Attach Hill you still have many miles to go to get to pavement. It can be a long day.

Nice short hike up and back a popular trail with oasis destination. I lost bearings on return and had to re-trace the original route rather than the alternate trail

Made it with a full size Ram 1500. Tight after Diablo drop off but plenty of room.

Awesome canyon, desert washes, some technical spots at the drop off. Great for overlanding!!!

Very steep with a lot of cactus to maneuver. Great hike with great views. Bring lots of water and start early.

This was an off road trip with some pretty capable Jeeps (all had lifts and 35” tires). We potentially could have battled to go further but much of the trail was in the creek bed and/or washed out. Great scenery, weather and isolation. High clearance mandatory for the descent and exit.

Very difficult trail involved lots of bouldering. Trail is partially marked but one could easily get lost.

Extremely long hike with lots of slippery rocks and a treacherous decent. Great workout with beautiful views!

This was a long day in the desert bagging peaks in the Santa Rosa Mountain range. Narrow, steep, rocky trails with lots of sharp, stabby plants to avoid! I loved it!!!

This hike had a lot of amazing bouldering and scrambling which starts about a third of the way to the Falls… The falls were empty dribble, some great Views up and down the canyon in several spots to chill out… Large rocks tons of palm trees and beautiful presence all around

This was a cool sightseeing mostly easy off road 4x4 drive. Mostly sandy wash, partially in sandstone canyons, with one section near the north end (Truckhaven) requiring high clearance.

As a sand driving adventure and viewpoint, this is amazing. Be safe and have fun. This does have extreme drops, so do be careful. I wrote the description above for more information.

This was one of my first official Jeep badge of honor trails I completed and I have to say it was one to remember. I will definitely be hitting this up in the future. I do recommend having some 33 inch tires or bigger (all-terrain or muds )are good, some rock sliders and a mild lift. This trail will definitely get you ready for the more challenging trails. I would say go with someone else just in case and also one with a winch. Or snatch straps in case you get hung up.

Fun little walk/hike to a couple overlooks. We did it as an out and back as we didn’t want to do the longed loop and the shortcut back is closed to rehabilitate the plants. Best to do in the morning as the summer heat can be stifling even at the slight elevation.

Great overland trip in the Anza-Borrego state park. Jeep Wrangler, 4Runner, or Tacoma style rig with a basic lift should get you there. Full sized pickups were too big to make it through some of the features.

Great run with a small group. We started late and never got to go all the way through. Very technical deep in the canyon, requires a spotter the first time through. Lifted, short wheelbase vehicles only. 37” tires recommended, 35” may not be enough rubber.

Failed attempt at Indianhead Mountain. Easy until the Palm Oasis. Past Palm Oasis requires route finding, boulder hopping and Bush whacking. Finally once you reach the turn point to start climbing the canyon wall, there really isn’t anything that resembles the trail. Made it to the saddle and decided to call it a day. Just not worth a slip and fall down the side of the mountain. A better view of the surrounding area can be achieved at Villager Peak and the trail is much better defined.

This was an amazing drive! Good views all around, especially through Sandstone Canyon. Super easy for all types of vehicles
